What is emergency care?

Emergency care is for medical or psychiatric conditions that requires immediate medical attention to prevent serious jeopardy to your health. Examples include:

• Chest pain or pressure
• Severe stomach pain that comes on suddenly
• Decrease in or loss of consciousness
• Severe shortness of breath

Coverage

Out-of-pocket costs

Non–Kaiser Permanente facilities

If admitted to a non–Kaiser Permanente facility, you or a family member must notify us within 48 hours after care begins (or as soon as reasonably possible) by calling the phone number on the back of your Kaiser Permanente member ID card or your claim for payment may be denied.
