About me
Hi, my name is Travis Morgan. I have two last names through marriage, but I practice under my first last name only. Therefore, you may address me as either Travis or Dr. Morgan. I am a neurologist with subspecialty training in movement disorders.
Biography
I am a native Californian raised in Anaheim. I completed my undergraduate and medical degrees in Southern California before departing the state for my neurology residency in central Texas at Baylor Scott & White Hospital. My wife and I met while I was in medical school, and I have been lucky to have an amazing and supportive partner with me ever since. We returned to the California Bay Area initially, where I completed my fellowship training in movement disorders at Stanford University. I then accepted a position to practice at Kaiser Permanente in Downey, which was a perfect fit due to the members I would be serving as well as the collegial atmosphere in the department. My wife and I were also happy to return to Southern California, where the majority of both our families still reside. We have 3 cats and recently welcomed our first daughter.
About my practice
I chose to practice medicine because of the personal and direct impact I could make on people’s lives. In particular, neurology fascinates me due to the intricate and oftentimes poorly understood nature of the brain, as well as the fact that neurologic disorders are often so disruptive in many ways to people’s lives. Despite this complexity that leaves many unknowns in neurology, I also felt a natural affinity with the systematic organization of the nervous system. I felt I could best utilize my analytical skills to diagnose and treat neurologic disorders, and I continue to have a passion for learning and improvement in my chosen field. As a neurologist, I strive to listen to the unique concerns of members so that I may best improve the quality of their lives. I am comfortable evaluating and treating all types of neurologic disorders. My subspecialty training in movement disorders has expanded my knowledge and skills in neurology. I have particular expertise in disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, tremor, dystonia, tics, and more. I am additionally trained in deep brain stimulation and botulinum toxin (Botox) injections. I feel that communication and education are important aspects of care, as opposed to just finding the “right” treatment. I believe care should be individualized, and I aim to make this part of my everyday practice. Please do not hesitate to ask questions during your visit with me!
How I thrive
I thrive by maintaining a good work-life balance. Spending quality time with my wife, our daughter, and our cats is important to me. One of the main reasons I chose to work at Kaiser Permanente is that the quality of life of physicians as well as members is valued. I enjoy cooking (especially Mexican cuisine), going on hikes, and a good cup of coffee or tea.
