About me

Hi there! My name is Dr. Tatiana Catanzarite, but many of my members call me Dr. C. Thank you for visiting my page — I am delighted to introduce myself, and I hope this page will provide you with some helpful information about my background and practice philosophy.

Biography

I grew up right here in San Diego, enjoying the sunshine with my parents and younger brother. After high school, I moved to Northern California to attend Stanford University, where I studied Biology and Spanish Literature. Following undergraduate studies, I attended medical school at UC Davis, followed by residency in OB/GYN at Northwestern University in Chicago. During residency training, I was drawn to the field of Urogynecology (also called Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, or FPMRS) due to the immense gratification that can come from helping women overcome life-altering conditions such as incontinence, prolapse, interstitial cystitis, and recurrent urinary tract infections. As I became more and more passionate about the subspecialty of FPMRS, I decided to pursue a 3-year fellowship training program in this field, which I completed at UC San Diego/Kaiser Permanente San Diego. During fellowship, I conducted academic research in multiple areas, including the mechanisms of pelvic floor birth injury at the basic science level, outcomes after pelvic organ prolapse and rectal prolapse surgery, and development of structured surgical training protocols. I was fortunate to present my research findings at national and international conferences and was also recognized with prestigious awards for both research and teaching.

About my practice

I am deeply committed to improving quality of life for the women of San Diego and expanding member and community awareness of pelvic floor disorders. I am honored and proud to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente Urogynecology team — as part of this team, I hope to provide both surgical and non-surgical Urogynecology care based on evidence and current research, contribute to training the next generation of FPMRS providers as faculty in the UC San Diego-Kaiser Permanente San Diego fellowship program, and to remain dedicated to improvement of member outcomes. Every day, I am reminded of the reasons I chose to pursue this subspecialty — it is humbling and rewarding to recognize the incredible impact our team is able to make in individual members’ lives and quality of life. My practice philosophy is one of shared decision-making with members — my role is to provide information and options and to help women reach informed decisions about their care.

How I thrive

In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, barre, Zumba, and Peloton workouts, traveling, and spending time at the beach, zoo, and other San Diego sights with my husband and 2 children.
