Biography
Although I was born in Italy and grew up in a Navy family, living at various times on the East Coast, West Coast, and Gulf Coast, I’ve always considered San Diego my home. After graduating from Poway High School, I stayed local for my education, completing my undergraduate studies in biochemistry, medical school, and dermatology residency all at UC San Diego. I spent a year in Utah for a transitional internship at Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, then returned to UC San Diego to complete my dermatology training. Following residency, I joined the faculty at UC San Diego Dermatology, where I had the privilege of caring for patients at both UC San Diego and the VA San Diego Hospital. I now feel fortunate to be part of the Kaiser Permanente team, continuing to serve the community that means so much to me.
About my practice
I am a board-certified dermatologist specializing in general medical dermatology. I treat a wide variety of skin conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin cancer, and other complex dermatologic disorders. I practice primarily at the Garfield Specialty Center, where my focus is on providing high-quality, personal, and comprehensive care. My approach is grounded in current evidence and research, and I strive to tailor each treatment plan to the individual needs of members.
How I thrive
Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is important to me, and I find that spending time with family, volunteering, and seeking out new adventures help keep me grounded. Outside of the clinic, you’ll often find me at the beach or local museums with my kids, exploring with my wife, or chasing after my golden retriever — who still hasn’t quite mastered the art of retrieving. I also enjoy surfing, snowboarding, mountain biking, fishing, and getting in a 5:00 a.m. workout in my garage.
I am also passionate about teaching and mentorship. I serve as a volunteer assistant clinical professor at UC San Diego, working closely with dermatology residents and medical students, and as a clinical instructor with the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine, where I mentor future physicians. I also volunteer at the VA Medical Center and am actively involved in organizing and participating in community skin cancer screenings.
