Where I practice
Welcome to physician Web page! I feel very privileged for having the opportunity to choose this career and blessed because I truly enjoy my work. Medicine is one of the keystones of my life.
I was born and raised in Arizona and have lived in Berkeley, California, New York City, Rio de Janeiro, and Lexington, Kentucky. Traveling is a passion of mine. I have been to more than 30 countries on six continents (but not Antarctica!). I have learned many things from these various environments and love to meet new people and exchange ideas. I have known that I wanted to be a physician since I started going to my father's medical office as a boy.
About my practice
My practice specializes in robotic and laparoscopic surgery. At the same time, I also see a wide variety of general urology. I did subspecialty training in laparoscopic and robotic surgery with Stephen Strup at the University of Kentucky. He is one of the pioneers and world's foremost experts in the field. My research interests are in minimally invasive surgical techniques and the epidemiology of prostate cancer. I know that being a patient can be difficult and stressful. My goal is to ease your concerns by listening, educating you so that you understand your condition and our plan, and ultimately, helping you in your life. If you don't feel I have reached these goals at the end of our visit, please tell me so that we can reach them.
How I thrive
I thrive by maintaining my physical and mental health. Physically, I enjoy surfing and playing capoeira, which is an Afro-Brazilian blend of martial art, game, and culture that combines agility, music, balance, philosophy, and even theatrics to cause the opponent to fall or be forced into a compromised position. Mentally, I thrive by having and maintaining good relationships with my family and friends.
