Where I practice
About me
Biography
I’m originally from California and chose to practice medicine because I value long-term relationships and the opportunity to guide patients through complex health decisions over time. I did my medical training at the University of Chicago and did my Fellowship and PhD training at UCLA. Early in my training, I was drawn to hepatology because these conditions often sit at the intersection of biology, behavior, and daily life, offering meaningful opportunities to improve both health and quality of life. I previously served as an assistant professor and primary faculty member at UCLA and the Greater Los Angeles VA before coming to Portland.
I enjoy caring for patients across the spectrum of liver disease and find it deeply rewarding to partner with individuals as they navigate chronic conditions, new diagnoses, or preventive care. I’m excited to practice at Kaiser Permanente Northwest, where coordinated care and prevention-focused medicine align closely with how I believe healthcare should be delivered.
About my practice
My practice focuses on hepatology, with particular attention to liver disease and metabolic conditions. I care for adults with a wide range of concerns, including fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, abnormal liver tests, and autoimmune conditions of the liver.
My approach to patient care is collaborative, thoughtful, and evidence-based. I prioritize listening carefully, understanding each patient’s goals, and explaining medical information in a clear and practical way. I believe that informed patients are empowered patients, and I work to develop care plans that are realistic, personalized, and sustainable.
What I value most about being a Kaiser Permanente clinician is practicing within an integrated system that supports teamwork, coordination, and continuity of care. This model allows me to focus on what matters most—providing high-quality care that supports patients’ long-term health.
How I thrive
I thrive by staying active, curious, and connected. Spending time outdoors helps me reset, whether that’s walking, exploring new places, or enjoying the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. I also enjoy cooking, reading, and learning about topics outside of medicine, which helps keep my perspective balanced.
Time with family and friends is an important source of energy for me, and I value moments that allow me to slow down and be present. I find that maintaining a healthy rhythm between work and personal life helps me stay grounded and engaged as a physician.
I’m motivated by growth—both personal and professional—and I try to bring that same sense of balance and intentionality into my daily life and my work with patients.
