Medical Financial Assistance (MFA)
The MFA program provides financial assistance to qualified patients who are having difficulty paying their Kaiser Permanente medical or pharmacy bills.
Note: This award is not transferrable to other health care services outside of Kaiser Permanente.

Think you might be eligible?
The level of financial assistance is based on two factors:
1. A patient whose yearly household income is less than or equal to 300% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (“FPG”).
2. If you’re experiencing high medical expenses as compared to your income, regardless of household income.

Want to apply for financial assistance?
Apply for financial assistance if you think you qualify. For ease, apply online. Additionally, you may apply using a paper application to mail, fax, or drop-off.
Once a completed application is received, you’ll hear back from us within 30 days. If it is not approved, we will provide a reason for the denial and instructions on how to appeal the decision if you disagree.

Counselors are available by telephone to provide information, determine MFA eligibility, or help with the MFA application process. Counselors can be reached at 1-866-899-6018 (TTY 711); Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mountain time.
For in-person assistance, you may also schedule an appointment with a financial counselor at one of the designated facilities listed below, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain time.

Community Health Coverage Program (CHCP)
Kaiser Permanente’s Charitable Health Coverage program provides coverage and subsidies to qualified applicants that help pay for monthly premiums and most out-of-pocket medical costs at Kaiser Permanente facilities.

Online medical bill pay
With a kp.org account, you can view your medical bills and make payments online.
Guest pay
You may also use guest pay to make one-time medical bill payments on behalf of another member.
Payment plans
From your Billing Summary, review each of your medical bills and then select Set up a payment plan to begin making automatic monthly payments toward the balance.
Health Savings Accounts (HSA) & Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA)
An HSA is savings account that can be used to pay for medical expenses while an HRA is an employer-funded health plan that offers tax-free reimbursements for qualified medical expenses.
