Where I practice
About me
I am a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist dedicated to providing high-quality, evidence-based care that is personalized to each patient’s unique needs and values. Originally trained in Texas and Michigan, I now practice at Kaiser Permanente Westside Medical Center and Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center in Oregon.
My medical journey began at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, followed by an internal medicine residency at the University of Michigan. I completed fellowship training in hematology and medical oncology at the University of Michigan's Karmanos Cancer Institute, one of the leading cancer centers in the country. I am passionate about delivering comprehensive care, grounded in science, compassion, and collaboration.
About my practice
My clinical expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of both solid tumors and blood disorders. I specialize in treating rare and complex cancers, including choriocarcinoma, EGFR-positive lung cancer, familial colorectal cancer, and adrenocortical carcinoma. I care for patients across the spectrum—from those receiving curative-intent therapies to those managing chronic or advanced diseases.
As a hematologist, I also diagnose and treat a range of blood-related conditions such as anemia, clotting disorders, leukemias, and lymphomas. I believe in treating not just the disease, but the whole person—prioritizing open communication, quality of life, and shared decision-making throughout the care journey.
Collaboration on Multidisciplinary Teams
I work closely with a broad network of specialists through multidisciplinary tumor boards and collaborative care teams to ensure each patient benefits from a personalized, coordinated treatment plan. This under-one-roof approach at Kaiser Permanente allows for seamless communication between primary care providers, oncologists, and specialty services—resulting in efficient, integrated care.
Research and Clinical Trials
In addition to my clinical practice, I am actively engaged in clinical research. I have authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications, including work on EGFR-positive lung cancer, colorectal cancer screening, and immunotherapy-related complications. My research includes:
• Lung Adenocarcinoma Associated With Germline R776H Variant (JCO Precision Oncology, 2022)
• Ipilimumab-Induced Digital Vasculitis (Journal for Immunotherapy of Cancer, 2018)
• Developments in Screening Tests and Strategies for Colorectal Cancer (Biomed Research International, 2015)
Participation in clinical trials and ongoing research allows me to offer patients access to innovative treatments and ensures I stay at the forefront of advances in oncology.
Professional Affiliations
I am a proud member of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). These organizations support my commitment to continuing education, research, and the advancement of cancer care.
How I thrive
As a physician, my mission is to support your health through compassionate care and clinical excellence. I believe in the power of collaborative care, and I am proud to work within Kaiser Permanente’s model that offers 24-hour nurse advice, online access to your health records, and coordinated care under one roof—all designed to keep you and your loved ones healthy and informed.
