About me

My natural predisposition has always been to help others through the science of medicine: I like people, I am social, and I have an affinity for science. This formula equated to a career in medicine. I do not recall a time I had any other desire or plans. I tended to be the "first responder" to injuries in family members, on the sports field, at camps — and soon, people intuitively would look to me for assistance when injured. I was hooked. Medicine has allowed me a privileged position to get to know people at a very personal level, to build relationships with them and their families, and to help them through times when they are at their most vulnerable. My ultimate goal is to keep my patients well, and to allow them the opportunity to enjoy a long, healthy, productive, and fulfilling journey through life.

About my practice

Since I graduated from medical school and completed my fellowship, my practice has been patient-facing: Consistently interacting with patients, understanding their needs and concerns, and developing treatment plans to help them get beyond their health situations. Understanding the expectations of the patient and of the referring physician is critical in determining a diagnosis and successful treatment. Treatment is a team approach, and I ensure the patient has input and participates in treatment decisions. I strive to explain the underlying process, treatment options, including risk and benefits, because understanding is paramount to successful outcomes. I value the medical benefit of lifestyle changes to enhance the response to treatment and to improve outcomes. I support achieving these changes with encouragement, goal setting, and positive reinforcement. It is my goal to treat the whole patient: their specific endocrine-related concerns and their total health and well-being.

How I thrive

"Live well and thrive" is a perfect motto, not only for Kaiser Permanente, but also for me. We must find what makes us happy and healthy and embrace those things. My family is the mainstay of my happiness and is my focus. I treasure every experience with them. I enjoy the outdoors, in all seasons and in all weather: playing sports, biking, hiking, fishing, skiing, or just relaxing. As a lifelong learner I read and learn something new every day! I keep myself grounded and healthy with a daily exercise routine and a "mostly" healthy diet.

Referrals to affiliated community physicians/providers in Oregon and Washington

Affiliated community physicians/providers are not part of the NWPMG (Northwest Permanente Medical Group). They are physicians/providers credentialed by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest and/or who have a contract with the NWPMG.

If your NWPMG physician decides that you require covered services not available internally from an NWPMG physician, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community physician/provider. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community physician/provider.

Referrals to affiliated community dentists in Oregon and Washington

Affiliated community dentists are not part of PDA (Permanente Dental Associates). They are dentists credentialed by PDA for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest, and they have a contract with PDA.

If your PDA dentist decides that you require covered services not available internally from a PDA dentist, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community dentist. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community dentist.
