About me

I received my initial medical education at Dow Medical College, one of the oldest and most respected institutions in Pakistan. I completed my internal medicine training in Rochester, New York. My experience working as a hospitalist for several years gave me a deep understanding of managing hospitalized patients with complex medical needs and provided valuable insight into the full spectrum of patient care.

I later pursued fellowship training in hematology and oncology at Wayne State University/Karmanos Cancer Institute. I was drawn to this specialty because of its complexity, rapid advancements, and potential to redefine how we understand and treat human disease. Hematology and oncology is one of the most dynamic fields in medicine, and I believe it will continue to shape the future of healthcare for decades to come. My passion lies in delivering thoughtful, personalized care that adapts to both each patient’s unique circumstances and the evolving landscape of medical science.

About my practice

I care for patients with both blood disorders and cancer. My clinical expertise includes the management of complex hematologic malignancies, solid tumors, and benign hematologic conditions. I treat a wide variety of cancers, including breast cancer, lung and thymic cancers, head and neck cancers, genitourinary cancers, skin cancers, and thyroid and endocrine tumors.

It is a true privilege to help people in their fight against cancer. I view my patients as heroes, and I am committed to building individualized treatment plans that are rooted in evidence, compassion, and open communication. I believe it is essential to take the time to clearly convey treatment options and expectations to both patients and their families.

In addition to my clinical work, I have a strong interest in research and believe it is a critical avenue to improve care and expand treatment options. I also enjoy teaching and plan to integrate academic mentorship and medical education into my future career.

Collaboration on Multidisciplinary Teams

I work closely with colleagues from a variety of specialties to ensure that each patient receives coordinated, high-quality care. I actively participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards—such as the thoracic tumor board—where diverse perspectives are brought together to formulate personalized, evidence-based treatment plans. This collaborative approach helps ensure we are addressing the full range of medical and supportive needs for every patient.

Research and Clinical Trials

I am engaged in clinical research through my role as a sub-investigator in the National Cancer Institute’s Community Oncology Program. This allows me to offer patients access to innovative and promising treatments through national clinical trials. I collaborate with several major research groups, including the SWOG Cancer Research Network, the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP), the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, and NRG Oncology.

Professional Affiliations

I am an active member of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). These professional societies allow me to stay up to date with the latest advances in cancer care, research, and clinical best practices.

How I thrive

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my wife and our four children. We love traveling, exploring new cuisines, and making the most of the beautiful outdoors in the Pacific Northwest. I also enjoy playing tennis and following seasonal sports, which help me stay active and recharge.
