Where I practice
About me
I was raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and earned my undergraduate degree in history from Princeton University. I then returned to my home state to attend the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where I met my wife, who is now a family medicine physician. Together, we decided to move west to Colorado for our medical training.
I completed both my Internal Medicine residency and Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the University of Colorado. I was drawn to hematology and oncology because of the unique, challenging, and deeply personal relationships that form between patients and their physicians. It is this meaningful bond that sustains both patient and doctor throughout the cancer journey.
After 15 years in community practice, I joined Kaiser Permanente, attracted to its comprehensive, integrated model of care. The organization’s team-based approach, robust electronic medical record system, and commitment to collaboration and communication align perfectly with my philosophy of patient-centered care.
About my practice
While I have experience treating a broad range of cancers, I make it a priority to educate my patients about their condition and involve them in each step of the decision-making process. I believe treatment should be tailored to the individual—balancing the best available science with each patient’s personal goals and values.
My Cancer Subspecialty Focus
My areas of clinical focus include hematologic cancers, as well as head and neck cancer, breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, lung cancer, and benign hematology.
Collaboration on Multidisciplinary Teams
I work closely with multidisciplinary teams composed of experts in medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, surgery, pathology, and other specialties. These collaborations enable us to design personalized, evidence-based treatment plans that reflect national best practices and ensure coordinated, high-quality care at every stage of diagnosis and treatment.
Research & Clinical Trials Involvement
I participate in several National Cancer Institute–supported research networks, including the SWOG Cancer Research Network, National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP), Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, and NRG Oncology. As a sub-investigator on multiple clinical trials, I am committed to advancing cancer care through innovative research and expanding access to promising new therapies within Kaiser Permanente.
How I thrive
I have truly enjoyed living in Colorado and taking advantage of all it has to offer. I love spending time with my wife and our 2 children, snowboarding, and running. I’m also a car enthusiast and aviation aficionado, and I enjoy traveling and exploring new places whenever I can.
