About me

I grew up in Chicago and spent most of my life there before moving to Denver. I attended Northwestern University and graduated with a degree in chemical engineering. Subsequently, I worked a couple years as a management consultant and ultimately decided to become a physician.

I pursued a career in medicine for multiple reasons. Primarily, I was close to my grandmother growing up. She had various musculoskeletal issues and wished that one day I could become a doctor to help her. Additionally, with my background in engineering, I have always been fascinated with the science and biomechanics related to the human body. I have been involved in various sports and have always desired to help an injured athlete beyond just wishing them well. I felt that a career in medicine, and specifically in orthopedic surgery, would be one of the most tangible and personal ways to help a person.

I completed a combined MD/MS program at Rush Medical College and the Graduate College of Rush University in Chicago. During medical school, I was fortunate to be selected as one of the top medical students by being elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. I completed my orthopedic surgery residency at Rush University Medical Center, and then pursued my subspecialty training in sports medicine surgery with a fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, New York.

I am a board-certified orthopedic surgeon through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. I also have a subspecialty certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. My practice focuses on hip preservation and sports medicine surgery. This includes arthroscopic and other minimally invasive procedures of the hip, shoulder, and knee.

About my practice

My objective in treating my patients is to provide them with a comprehensive work-up and treatment plan that best fits their needs and helps them achieve their goals. My hope is to do this in a manner that is compassionate and consistent with how I would want to treat my own family. Most of my patients fall in a range from young adolescents to middle-aged adults.

I have a specialty focus on treating non-arthritic hip conditions such as labral tears, femoroacetabular impingement, abductor tears, snapping hip, proximal hamstring tears, cartilage lesions, and prior failed hip arthroscopies. I address these conditions with hip arthroscopic and endoscopic procedures. In addition to hip arthroscopies with primary labral repairs, I also provide other surgical options such as labral reconstructions, labral augmentations, and revision hip arthroscopies.

I also treat general sports medicine issues that involve other joints such as the shoulder and knee. Procedures that I perform for these joints include ACL reconstructions, meniscus surgeries, cartilage restorative procedures, rotator cuff repairs, shoulder labral repairs, and biceps tenodesis/tenotomy procedures.

In addition to my clinical practice, I serve as a surgical instructor for multiple courses at the Orthopaedic Learning Center. At these courses, I teach arthroscopic and other minimally invasive procedures for the hip, shoulder, and knee. I have also served as a team physician at various levels from high school through professional sports. I currently work with the New York Mets as an affiliate team physician. I have contributed to our orthopedic literature with publications that range from basic science and clinical studies to surgical technique articles. I am a reviewer for multiple journals including the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, the American Journal of Sports Medicine, and the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. I am an active member of several orthopedic surgery societies including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

How I thrive

I have been blessed to have a wife and 2 sons. In addition to spending time with my family, I enjoy travel, trying different restaurants and cuisines, hiking, and sports.

Pueblo DSNP members must choose a Primary Care Physician who is located within a KP Medical Office Building. Please refer to the Medicare print directory for Southern Colorado for a full list of these providers.

To find:

  • Kaiser Permanente medical office providers’ hours, search our facility directory
  • Affiliated providers’ office hours or languages spoken by front office staff, call their office directly
  • Providers in your plan or accepting new patients, call 1-303-338-4545 or 1-800-218-1059 (TTY 711), Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Information in this online directory is updated periodically and applies to commercial plans underwritten by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado. The availability of physicians, hospitals, providers, and services may change. To verify whether a provider accepts Kaiser Permanente plans, contact the provider directly. Current provider information is available at kp.org/locations. This information is updated within 72 business hours of receipt from providers. Kaiser Permanente Colorado attempts to ensure the online directory contains up-to-date information. The printed directory is current as of the date of publication.

To report any inaccuracies in the directory or to file a complaint regarding your experience with a provider, contact Member Services at 1-800-632-9700 (TTY 711), Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., or visit kp.org/memberservices.

Medicare Members: To request a hard copy of Kaiser Permanente’s provider directory, please call our Member Services department at 1-800-476-2167, seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Kaiser Permanente will mail a hard copy of the provider directory to you within three (3) business days of your request. Kaiser Permanente may ask whether your request for a hard copy is a one-time request or if you are requesting to receive the provider directory in hard copy permanently.

If you request it, your request for hard copies of the provider directory remains until you leave Kaiser Permanente or request that hard copies be discontinued.

Kaiser Permanente considers the following factors as it builds and maintains provider networks:

  • Size and demographics of the population to be served
  • The inventory of provider and facility types required to serve the population
  • Practitioner-to-member ratios and geographic access standards
  • Application of credentialing criteria encompassing but not limited to educational training, licensing, professional experience, board certification, and professional references

You may select a primary care provider (PCP) from family medicine, pediatrics, or internal medicine. When possible, we encourage you to choose a PCP whose office is in a Kaiser Permanente Medical Office Building. You may have a higher copayment and/or coinsurance with certain PCP providers. Please refer to your “Schedule of Benefits (Who Pays What)” for additional details. Use the Provider Affiliation dropdown to sort to Kaiser Permanente providers.

An authorization or referral may be required to access some providers in this directory. If you have questions, contact Member Services.
