About me
I grew up in Colorado where I met my wife Nicole. I joined the Navy following 9/11 to attend the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. After graduating from medical school in 2006 and completing an orthopedic surgery internship, I spent 4 years as a Navy Flight Surgeon for Carrier Airwing 9 as well as Helicopter Combat Squadron 21 and the 2515th Naval Air Ambulance Detachment in Kuwait. While serving as an operational physician, my wife had boy-girl twins and then another daughter.
Throughout my Navy career my wife and I have made lifelong friends with amazing people, whether it be during medical school, Naval Aviation or as a staff physician at Naval hospitals. My career has not been without sacrifice, and I am most proud of my family’s support and strength - whether it be during the demands of medical training/career, raising a young family while I deployed, 8 moves or 6 new schools. After 20 amazing years in the Navy, my family, including Moose and Pearl (Labs) and Athena and Leo (cats), are excited to back home in Colorado!
About my practice
I plan to learn and gain experience until the last day I practice medicine. I was drawn to hematopathology because it is a unique subspecialty that is always changing and will always be challenging. It is now and historically has been in forefront of molecular medicine. As molecular/genetic testing modalities rapidly advance so does our understanding of the biology that drives more and more leukemias and lymphomas. Targeted therapy is similarly advancing. One of the aspects of my specialty I enjoy the most is working with my clinical colleagues in a multidisciplinary team approach to rapidly and accurately diagnose so they can initiate the best treatment quickly.
How I thrive
I enjoy my job and my colleagues at work. Camaraderie as well as a good work life balance is also important to me. Outside of work I enjoy exercising, landscaping, spending time with my family whether it be hiking, outdoor sports, walking the dogs, coaching little league, cooking pizza and watching a movie (or Broncos).

Kaiser Permanente considers the following factors as it builds and maintains provider networks:
- Size and demographics of the population to be served

- Practitioner-to-member ratios and geographic access standards
- Application of credentialing criteria encompassing but not limited to educational training, licensing, professional experience, board certification, and professional references
You may select a primary care provider (PCP) from family medicine, pediatrics, or internal medicine. When possible, we encourage you to choose a PCP whose office is in a Kaiser Permanente Medical Office Building. You may have a higher copayment and/or coinsurance with certain PCP providers. Please refer to your “Schedule of Benefits (Who Pays What)” for additional details. Use the Provider Affiliation dropdown to sort to Kaiser Permanente providers.
An authorization or referral may be required to access some providers in this directory. If you have questions, contact Member Services.
