About me
I lived in Cameroon, West Africa for 12 years. These years shared in a home with an African father and American mother, 4 enthusiastic siblings, and a long list of family and friends of different ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds greatly influenced me. I have always loved spending time with people and very early on, always wanted to help anyone in need. When I left Cameroon to live a block away from my grandparents in the suburbs of Chicago, those parts of me never changed.
Head & Neck Surgery is the perfect specialty for me because while this specialty occasionally gives me the opportunity to save someone’s life, even more gratifying, is the opportunity to transform someone’s quality of life.
About my practice
I mostly (but not exclusively) see adult patients. Since I am fellowship-trained in sinus and anterior skull base surgery, I have lots of extra experience managing diseases such as chronic sinusitis, sinus / nasal tumors, CSF (spinal fluid) leaks, and pituitary / skull base tumors. I also love taking care of patients with blocked tear ducts which can be opened through the nose without leaving any scars. Finally, I love treating patients’ problems in the neck or throat - tumors of the salivary glands (parotid, submandibular), endocrine glands (thyroid, parathyroid), lymph nodes, and one of my absolute favorites to treat is the rare Zenker’s diverticulum!
I have a few basic philosophies that guide how I practice medicine. First, listening carefully to patients is paramount – fancy technology is not a substitute. Next, patients must have a good basic understanding of their medical problem and the treatment plan to have the best possible outcomes – we are truly a team. Finally, the journey from diagnosis to recovery can be long, challenging, and stressful – patients need to know their physician will be there for the entire journey – providing reassurance when needed and intervening quickly if there are any hiccups along the way. That summarizes how I approach my practice every day.
How I thrive
I must start by admitting that the environment I work in really allows me to thrive. My fellow ENT (ear, nose & throat)/ Head & Neck Surgery colleagues are very kind, caring, fun, and passionate about the work they do. There is nothing quite like an environment where we all support and motivate each other to provide the best care for our patients. I also collaborate with lots of other departments (Neurosurgery, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Audiology) and couldn’t ask for a nicer bunch of people to be around every day. The supportive environment and my only love for the work I do helps me thrive.
You’d be worried if I didn’t admit to having hobbies as well… I am now a proud father and time with him is my favorite hobby. When he is old enough to join me, I will introduce him to all my favorite activities – spending time outdoors trail running, road (path) biking, hiking, and skiing. I have built a wonderful community in Denver and love get-togethers whenever possible. I also enjoy traveling, less for the adventure, and more to find a new fun spot to catch up with my close friends and family. Finally, I do lots of mentoring of students either from disadvantaged backgrounds or who don’t have any family members in medicine.

- Application of credentialing criteria encompassing but not limited to educational training, licensing, professional experience, board certification, and professional references
You may select a primary care provider (PCP) from family medicine, pediatrics, or internal medicine. When possible, we encourage you to choose a PCP whose office is in a Kaiser Permanente Medical Office Building. You may have a higher copayment and/or coinsurance with certain PCP providers. Please refer to your “Schedule of Benefits (Who Pays What)” for additional details. Use the Provider Affiliation dropdown to sort to Kaiser Permanente providers.
An authorization or referral may be required to access some providers in this directory. If you have questions, contact Member Services.
