About me
I was born and raised in Laredo, Texas, on the border of Mexico, in a Mexican American family with a passion for education and service. I completed a degree in English and Russian Literature at Princeton University. The exploration of stories we all tell about our lives and my desire to serve my community is what inspired me to pursue a career in medicine - where every patient has a story to tell and a problem that requires a solution. From there, I moved westward to Seattle for medical school at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
About my practice
I completed my urology residency at Stanford University and learned to manage the complete spectrum of urologic issues. I developed a particular interest in reconstructive urology and pursued a fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, training with Dr. Allen Morey, a world-renowned leader in urologic reconstruction and prosthetic surgery. As a reconstructive urologist, I specialize in restoring form and function to the genitourinary system for patients recovering from trauma, injury, and cancer treatment. This includes urethral reconstruction for urethral stricture disease, management of male stress incontinence, surgical repair of Peyronie’s disease, and prosthetic surgery for erectile dysfunction. In addition to reconstruction for cancer survivorship, I specialize in adult genitourinary reconstruction and am proud to care for patients pursuing gender affirmation as a part of Kaiser Permanente’s gender health program. I view my relationships with my patients as a team effort, working together to understand problems and the treatment options that are available. Surgery can be confusing and frightening, and I do my best to guide each patient through the process from start to finish as if they were family.
How I thrive
I am an avid reader, appreciating both Spanish and Russian literature. When not working, I enjoy traveling, playing tennis, skiing and spending time with my family and the world's friendliest dog, our Bernedoodle. I also enjoy spending time in the kitchen and experimenting with new recipes.

If you request it, your request for hard copies of the provider directory remains until you leave Kaiser Permanente or request that hard copies be discontinued.
Kaiser Permanente considers the following factors as it builds and maintains provider networks:
- Size and demographics of the population to be served
- The inventory of provider and facility types required to serve the population
- Practitioner-to-member ratios and geographic access standards
- Application of credentialing criteria encompassing but not limited to educational training, licensing, professional experience, board certification, and professional references
You may select a primary care provider (PCP) from family medicine, pediatrics, or internal medicine. When possible, we encourage you to choose a PCP whose office is in a Kaiser Permanente Medical Office Building. You may have a higher copayment and/or coinsurance with certain PCP providers. Please refer to your “Schedule of Benefits (Who Pays What)” for additional details. Use the Provider Affiliation dropdown to sort to Kaiser Permanente providers.
An authorization or referral may be required to access some providers in this directory. If you have questions, contact Member Services.
