About me

I was born and raised in Hawaii and still refer to Hawaii as my home. I graduated from the University of Hawaii and majored in psychology. I then left the islands and received my master’s and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in 1993. I completed my internship at the University of Pennsylvania and completed a minor rotation in neuropsychology. My first job landed me in upstate New York at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. I enjoyed working with college students and relocated to Loyola College in Maryland and then to Towson University. In addition, I had a small private practice in Maryland and conducted police evaluations for the Baltimore City Police Department and the Maryland State Troopers.

I moved to Colorado in 2003, and initially worked at nursing homes before joining Kaiser Permanente. At Kaiser Permanente, I started out as a therapist, moved to a crisis position, and then transferred to the Intensive Outpatient Program before returning to a therapist position at the Baseline Medical Offices.

I am married and have a daughter who attends Regis University. Our family also includes a Bernese Mountain dog, Siberian cat, and Norwegian Forest cat.

About my practice

A Behavior Medicine Specialist or BMS is a licensed psychologist or licensed clinical social worker who works in the medical office alongside Primary Care physicians to support your total health. Having Behavioral Health support in Primary Care is a unique service that is available to you at you Kaiser Permanente. You no longer have to schedule a separate visit in one of our Behavioral Health locations simply to ask questions and determine what you might need. This model of care allows Primary Care and Behavioral Health providers to work hand-in-hand as a team to care for you. It also offers increased convenience because you can visit the same location to receive Primary Care and Behavioral Health care. If you need specialty care, your Behavior Medicine Specialist or Primary Care physician will discuss this with you and help you get connected to the services that are best for you.

The role of the BMS varies depending on your individual needs. In general, the BMS can screen for mental health and substance use issues, as well as provide short-term appointments to reduce symptoms which may be causing you distress and improve your daily functioning. They are also a great resource to connect you with appropriate specialized services, and they will help to coordinate your care so your Primary Care team members and Specialty Care providers are working together to provide your care. In many cases, a few brief appointments with a BMS in your Primary Care medical office is all that is required, but if longer-term services are needed, the BMS can assist with the scheduling of an appointment in one of our specialty Behavioral Health centers.

How I thrive

I practice yoga, which I have found very centering. I also have a personal trainer and meet with her weekly. I enjoy massages and have tried various types of massages. I enjoy watching the Broncos!

To find:

  • Kaiser Permanente medical office providers’ hours, search our facility directory
  • Affiliated providers’ office hours or languages spoken by front office staff, call their office directly
  • Providers in your plan or accepting new patients, call 1-303-338-4545 or 1-800-218-1059 (TTY 711), Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Information in this online directory is updated periodically and applies to commercial plans underwritten by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado. The availability of physicians, hospitals, providers, and services may change. To verify whether a provider accepts Kaiser Permanente plans, contact the provider directly. Current provider information is available at kp.org/locations. This information is updated within 72 business hours of receipt from providers. Kaiser Permanente Colorado attempts to ensure the online directory contains up-to-date information. The printed directory is current as of the date of publication.

To report any inaccuracies in the directory or to file a complaint regarding your experience with a provider, contact Member Services at 1-800-632-9700 (TTY 711), Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., or visit kp.org/memberservices.

Medicare Members: To request a hard copy of Kaiser Permanente’s provider directory, please call our Member Services department at 1-800-476-2167, seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Kaiser Permanente will mail a hard copy of the provider directory to you within three (3) business days of your request. Kaiser Permanente may ask whether your request for a hard copy is a one-time request or if you are requesting to receive the provider directory in hard copy permanently.

If you request it, your request for hard copies of the provider directory remains until you leave Kaiser Permanente or request that hard copies be discontinued.

Kaiser Permanente considers the following factors as it builds and maintains provider networks:

  • Size and demographics of the population to be served
  • The inventory of provider and facility types required to serve the population
  • Practitioner-to-member ratios and geographic access standards
  • Application of credentialing criteria encompassing but not limited to educational training, licensing, professional experience, board certification, and professional references

You may select a primary care provider (PCP) from family medicine, pediatrics, or internal medicine. When possible, we encourage you to choose a PCP whose office is in a Kaiser Permanente Medical Office Building. You may have a higher copayment and/or coinsurance with certain PCP providers. Please refer to your “Schedule of Benefits (Who Pays What)” for additional details. Use the Provider Affiliation dropdown to sort to Kaiser Permanente providers.

An authorization or referral may be required to access some providers in this directory. If you have questions, contact Member Services.
