About me
Originally from New York, I retired from the Navy in 2012 after 21 years of service. I served as a flight surgeon and then as a general surgeon and rose through the ranks to captain and director of Surgical Services at the Naval Hospital Pensacola. After completing a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery, I joined the surgical team at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, where we practiced general and bariatric surgery. I deployed to Iraq and to Afghanistan where I served as the officer in charge of a forward surgical team. The field of bariatrics is continually growing. As a surgeon, it is both challenging and rewarding. As a member of a robust medical and surgical weight loss team, it is very fulfilling.
About my practice
In our field, I get to share in the short- and long-term success of our patients throughout their journey from obesity to health. Our department is staffed with a diverse group of professionals who believe in what they do and strive to evolve, innovate and improve. It is truly a great place to practice. I have a partnership style of practice. I frequently tell my patients: “I have expertise in surgery, but I work for you and we will make decisions and care for you together.”
How I thrive
We have lived on all three coasts and Hawaii. We are excited to explore and enjoy this amazing part of the country. Having a rewarding practice in this setting is wonderful. Exploring the unique recreational opportunities Denver and the surrounding area has to offer has kept us engaged and challenged. I never imagined we’d be skiing at 10,000 feet and sailing at 5,280!

The availability of physicians, hospitals, providers, and services may change. To verify whether a provider accepts Kaiser Permanente plans, contact the provider directly. Current provider information is available at kp.org/locations. This information is updated within 72 business hours of receipt from providers. Kaiser Permanente Colorado attempts to ensure the online directory contains up-to-date information. The printed directory is current as of the date of publication.

Medicare Members: To request a hard copy of Kaiser Permanente’s provider directory, please call our Member Services department at 1-800-476-2167, seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Kaiser Permanente will mail a hard copy of the provider directory to you within three (3) business days of your request. Kaiser Permanente may ask whether your request for a hard copy is a one-time request or if you are requesting to receive the provider directory in hard copy permanently.
If you request it, your request for hard copies of the provider directory remains until you leave Kaiser Permanente or request that hard copies be discontinued.
Kaiser Permanente considers the following factors as it builds and maintains provider networks:
- Size and demographics of the population to be served
- The inventory of provider and facility types required to serve the population
- Practitioner-to-member ratios and geographic access standards
- Application of credentialing criteria encompassing but not limited to educational training, licensing, professional experience, board certification, and professional references
You may select a primary care provider (PCP) from family medicine, pediatrics, or internal medicine. When possible, we encourage you to choose a PCP whose office is in a Kaiser Permanente Medical Office Building. You may have a higher copayment and/or coinsurance with certain PCP providers. Please refer to your “Schedule of Benefits (Who Pays What)” for additional details. Use the Provider Affiliation dropdown to sort to Kaiser Permanente providers.
An authorization or referral may be required to access some providers in this directory. If you have questions, contact Member Services.
