About me
I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, but moved to New Orleans for college. I lived in the Crescent City for almost a decade and I attended Tulane University for both my undergraduate education and medical school. Residency took me out east to Baltimore where I completed my general ob-gyn residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. I then completed 2 fellowships – my first was a NIH-sponsored women’s reproductive health research fellowship in the Fetal Therapy division at the University of Cincinnati. I then moved up the road to Columbus, Ohio, where I finished my maternal fetal medicine fellowship at The Ohio State University. I also completed a Master of Public Health at Ohio State, which focused on epidemiology and biostatistics. I am grateful to have trained at so many different institutions and I believe this has allowed me to be the best possible clinician I can. Most importantly, though, I have loved that my medical education has taken me to so many distinct places and exposed me to a breadth of cultures and a diversity of patients. I am honored to be recognized as a 5280 Magazine Top Doctor in 2022 and was also honored there in 2019.
About my practice
I love the field of obstetrics and specifically maternal fetal medicine. Caring for women during their pregnancy is a special privilege for me. I focus on maintaining a partnership between patient and clinician to ensure the healthiest outcome for both mother and baby during pregnancy. I try to obtain a connection with my patients that goes beyond the clinical care we provide. Sometimes this can be a shared interest or place we both have lived, but often it is learning something special about my patients. I believe that communication is a vital part of this process and helps ease our patients through high-risk pregnancy. I always make a point to spend time listening to my patients' needs, making sure they feel comfortable and ensuring that they always feel I am available to them during their pregnancy. My practice is limited to caring for women during high-risk pregnancy. This could involve mothers who have medical complications affecting pregnancy such as diabetes/high blood pressure, a past pregnancy that was complicated by an early delivery, or managing issues that could be currently affecting the baby.
How I thrive
Outside of work, I stay active and enjoy all that colorful Colorado has to offer. In addition to biking, hiking and running, I have recently taken up skiing – I was so proud to ski down my first black diamond without any injuries! I am married and enjoy spending time with my wife and our 2 adorable dogs, Hilde and Tibby. We enjoy entertaining and have taken to having an annual crawfish boil to bring a little taste of NOLA to the Front Range!
