About me
I grew up close to Kansas City, Missouri, but after medical school my wife and I decided to move to Denver for my family medicine residency at Saint Joseph Hospital. The beautiful mountains, fun outdoor adventures, and good friends led us to call Denver home ever since. I now have two boys and the four of us enjoy playing games, reading books, and sleeping in a tent as much as possible. I am proud of creating the first Palliative Care fellowship training program at Saint Joseph Hospital because I truly love to help people with serious illness understand their medical condition and come up with plans for the future, as well as educate other physicians in this important work.
About my practice
I chose palliative medicine because I get to help patients and families during challenging times. I am incredibly fortunate to work with a highly skilled team of nurses, social workers and chaplains who provide extra support to patients and families facing serious illness. We take care of the entire person and address the physical, emotional, practical and spiritual concerns that come with advancing illness. The thing I value most in my work is my desire to get to know you beyond just “the patient.” I think it is important that doctors know their patients and what things are most important to them. I want to get to know you as a person and understand your hopes and fears so that together we can come up with the best plan for you.
How I thrive
In my free time, I am a runner and have completed four marathons. I love to camp with my family and go on long hikes in the mountains. I played volleyball in college and continue to play in some of the leagues around town. I also am passionate about promoting health in communities that don’t have access to health care. I volunteer with an organization that supports community health workers in Africa and recently traveled to Zambia to provide health care training.

If you request it, your request for hard copies of the provider directory remains until you leave Kaiser Permanente or request that hard copies be discontinued.
Kaiser Permanente considers the following factors as it builds and maintains provider networks:
- Size and demographics of the population to be served
- The inventory of provider and facility types required to serve the population
- Practitioner-to-member ratios and geographic access standards
- Application of credentialing criteria encompassing but not limited to educational training, licensing, professional experience, board certification, and professional references
You may select a primary care provider (PCP) from family medicine, pediatrics, or internal medicine. When possible, we encourage you to choose a PCP whose office is in a Kaiser Permanente Medical Office Building. You may have a higher copayment and/or coinsurance with certain PCP providers. Please refer to your “Schedule of Benefits (Who Pays What)” for additional details. Use the Provider Affiliation dropdown to sort to Kaiser Permanente providers.
An authorization or referral may be required to access some providers in this directory. If you have questions, contact Member Services.
