Where I practice
About me
I am a Denver native who followed a nontraditional path to becoming a physician. My interest in hematology and oncology began during graduate school while earning my degree in chemistry, where my thesis research focused on the synthesis of anticancer natural products. Around that same time, someone close to me was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma—bringing the realities of a life-threatening diagnosis and difficult treatment into my personal life for the first time.
The experience taught me about the challenges and rewards of supporting a loved one through cancer therapy. Witnessing their strength, patience, and perseverance during treatment—and seeing them ultimately achieve remission—left a lasting impression and changed my understanding of what it means to be a patient undergoing chemotherapy.
After completing my scientific training, I spent a decade working in the pharmaceutical industry as a drug discovery scientist, focusing on metabolic diseases and oncology projects. During this period, my confidant experienced a recurrence, again facing a difficult prognosis. Although the second treatment was ultimately successful, it was complicated by significant side effects, deepening my understanding of the physical and emotional toll of cancer therapy—especially for patients balancing demanding professional and personal lives.
These experiences inspired me to transition from drug development to direct patient care. I began practicing medicine in 2018 in California and later returned to Colorado to be closer to family after my father passed away from prostate cancer. I feel privileged to work at Kaiser Permanente, where I can provide high-quality, integrated, and compassionate care to my patients within a collaborative team environment.
About my practice
My professional mission is to provide advanced cancer care—including immunotherapy, targeted therapies, chemoimmunotherapy, chemotherapy, and access to clinical trials—in a multidisciplinary setting that includes surgical oncology, radiation oncology, and interventional radiology. My philosophy of care is shaped by my personal and professional experiences with cancer, which have instilled in me a deep commitment to providing compassionate, individualized care to every patient.
My Cancer Subspecialty Focus
My clinical interests include gastrointestinal malignancies, genitourinary malignancies, lymphoma, neuroendocrine tumors, lung cancer, gynecologic malignancies, and breast cancer.
Collaboration on Multidisciplinary Teams
I work closely with multidisciplinary teams composed of experts in medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, surgery, pathology, and other specialties. I partner with a dedicated nurse care coordinator who provides consistent communication and support for every patient. I enjoy working at Kaiser Permanente because of the highly collaborative, patient-centered culture—I would trust the care of my own family members to any of my colleagues.
Research & Clinical Trials Involvement
I participate in several National Cancer Institute–supported research networks, including the SWOG Cancer Research Network, National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP), Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, and NRG Oncology. As a sub-investigator on multiple clinical trials, I am committed to advancing cancer care through innovative research and expanding access to promising new therapies within Kaiser Permanente.
How I thrive
I thrive in a collegial, high-performing professional environment where evidence-based care is delivered with compassion. Achieving work - life balance allows me to maintain perspective and energy for my patients. Outside of medicine, I enjoy hiking with my dogs, making live-edge tables, and sea kayaking. I also value time spent with family, exercising, and exploring the outdoors.
