About me

I was raised in Monument and grew up exploring the front range with my friends and family. I attended Brown University in Rhode Island, where I majored in biology and ran hurdles for the varsity track team. I received my medical degree from Duke University in North Carolina, where I was inducted into the AOA Medical Honor Society. I then went on to complete my orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of California San Francisco. Following that, I completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in Philadelphia, where I developed expertise managing complex problems in hip and knee replacement. After years away from Colorado, my wife and I couldn’t be happier to call this incredible state home again.

About my practice

As an arthroplasty surgeon, I specialize in hip and knee replacement. I have expertise in advanced surgical techniques, including anterior total hip replacement, partial knee replacement, and revision arthroplasty (surgery to correct a problem with a previous joint replacement). I also take care of fractures and other traumatic musculoskeletal injuries.

I view orthopaedics as a way of restoring something that was lost for patients. I enjoy getting to know my patients, learning about their goals, and providing personalized care. My goal is to achieve excellent outcomes for my patients and get them back to doing what they love. Sometimes we are able to do this with non-operative treatments like physical therapy and injections, and other times, surgery is the best option. Regardless, we will come to the right treatment decision together, and I will be there every step of the way.

Outside of clinical care, I am involved in research and have published in multiple peer-reviewed journals on topics including improving outcomes in hip and knee replacement, managing complications, and expanding access to care. I am a member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, where I am involved in health policy initiatives and advocate for patients at the national level.

How I thrive

The best part of my job is seeing patients in clinic after a successful procedure and hearing about how well they are doing. I am very passionate about my profession, but I am also passionate about family, sports, and the outdoors. In my time outside of work, I enjoy hiking, snowboarding, fishing, and spending time with family.

Information in this online directory is updated periodically and applies to commercial plans underwritten by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado. The availability of physicians, hospitals, providers, and services may change. To verify whether a provider accepts Kaiser Permanente plans, contact the provider directly. Current provider information is available at kp.org/locations. This information is updated within 72 business hours of receipt from providers. If you request it, your request for hard copies of the provider directory remains until you leave Kaiser Permanente or request that hard copies be discontinued.

Kaiser Permanente considers the following factors as it builds and maintains provider networks:

  • Size and demographics of the population to be served
  • The inventory of provider and facility types required to serve the population
  • Practitioner-to-member ratios and geographic access standards
  • Application of credentialing criteria encompassing but not limited to educational training, licensing, professional experience, board certification, and professional references

You may select a primary care provider (PCP) from family medicine, pediatrics, or internal medicine. When possible, we encourage you to choose a PCP whose office is in a Kaiser Permanente Medical Office Building. You may have a higher copayment and/or coinsurance with certain PCP providers. Please refer to your “Schedule of Benefits (Who Pays What)” for additional details. Use the Provider Affiliation dropdown to sort to Kaiser Permanente providers.

An authorization or referral may be required to access some providers in this directory. If you have questions, contact Member Services.
