About me
I am a Colorado native. I attended the University of Colorado for undergraduate school, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school, and University of Cincinnati for my Master of Public Health degree. I am board-certified in both pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine. I completed my pediatric residency at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, and a 3-year subspecialty fellowship in emergency medicine & global health research at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Following fellowship, I remained on staff at Cincinnati Children's as faculty of pediatric emergency medicine and global health for several years until moving "home" to Colorado and joining Kaiser Permanente.I have extensive experience in pediatrics, emergency/trauma care, and global health. I am an internationally recognized injury prevention expert and researcher, have authored over 20 articles and book chapters, and presented at nearly 100 conferences. I remain an active consultant to the World Health Organization and American Academy of Pediatrics.
About my practice
Over the course of my career, I have practiced medicine in the United States, Central America, and Africa. My care philosophy is to be a compassionate partner with families to help children live in their best state of health. I believe that prevention is key to keeping kids healthy and that EVERY child has the right to receive quality, up-to-date health care. That care includes children having a positive patient experience and families understanding and having shared decision making. I aim to be the best pediatrician and advocate I can be for my patients, their families, and the community.
How I thrive
I thrive on spending time with my husband, daughter, and a household of furry friends. I love being back in Colorado where I can enjoy time with my extended family and friends. I enjoy time when I can travel, cook, garden, play tennis, and hike.
