About me
I was born in New York City and then moved to South Bend, Indiana when I was 7. I went to undergraduate at the University of Illinois and medical school at Indiana University. I then completed orthopedic surgery residency training in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. From there I moved to San Diego and completed two fellowships, one in hand and upper extremity surgery at the University of California, San Diego and another in shoulder and sports medicine at Scripps Clinic. The purpose of my dual-fellowship training was to become a comprehensive shoulder to hand surgeon that can provide convenient and total upper extremity care to my patients. This way they can see 1 doctor who can help them for all their upper extremity problems. Both my parents are physicians and have been positive role models in my life that have reinforced the privilege of being a physician and caring for patients. I intend on taking these principles and applying them to my patients here at Kaiser Permanente.
About my practice
I am a board-certified orthopedic shoulder, elbow, and hand surgeon that specializes in arthroscopic and open sports shoulder surgeries, reconstructive shoulder surgeries (anatomic and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty), non-operative and operative trauma of the entire upper extremity (clavicle to the fingertips), sports elbow surgeries (distal biceps repairs, triceps repairs, ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction of the elbow (e.g. tommy john surgery), and common hand surgeries (carpal tunnel release, trigger finger release, mass removals, reconstruction for thumb arthritis).
I take an individualized approach to my patients and it’s a privilege to get to know people and find ways to help them. Non-operative treatment is a key component of my care plan for patients, and I only offer surgery when necessary or in situations when the patient has failed exhaustive conservative care. I look forward to helping my patient meet their goals and get back to a healthy, active lifestyle here in Colorado.
How I thrive
I thrive by balancing my work and personal life. I take great pride in helping my patients get back to an active, healthy lifestyle and that gives me pride in what I do. I also thrive by spending time with my lovely family and enjoying all the wonderful things that Colorado has to offer. My family loves outdoor activities, healthy eating/cooking, sports, traveling, community service, and building positive and healthy relationships with the people around us.
