Where I practice
I grew up on a 100-acre farm in a small town in Pennsylvania. My grandparents lived next door so we were a very close family. When I decided to pursue medicine, I completed medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania, and residency at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital in my hometown of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. During residency I developed a passion for sports medicine, which led me to complete a fellowship in Reading, Pennsylvania. After fellowship I stayed on for six years as a team physician for football, lacrosse and basketball athletes, as well as professional teams including the ECHL Reading Royals, Reading Phillies and Reading Railers. My husband and I had the opportunity to come to Denver in 2015. My husband lived here after college and always wanted to come back. Luckily my sister-in-law and her husband also live in Denver so we continue to be near family.
About my practice
My patients are of all ages and have a variety of injuries including sprains/strains, overuse injuries, fractures, as well as chronic problems like arthritis. I strive to keep my patients doing what they love so I stress continuing to be active in life, whether that is continuing current activity or adding other activity or physical therapy while recovering. I work closely with my colleagues to give my patients the best care. Since I am a non-operative sports medicine physician, I often discuss possible surgical cases with my partners to determine surgical need and follow-up. I listen and seek to understand my patients’ questions and concerns so we can make treatment plans that meet their needs and lifestyles.
How I thrive
My husband and I enjoy weightlifting, skiing, hiking and running. I am a certified Les Mills BodyCombat instructor and even though I no longer teach I enjoy doing the class at home or joining a group class. We enjoy active vacations, usually hiking but an occasional beach vacation is welcome. Since we were married on the beach, it brings us back to that exciting time in our lives.
