Where I practice
While I have only been in Colorado since 2015, I am not new to family medicine! Before my significant other and I moved to Denver, I had a full-spectrum practice in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for almost 15 years. After completing both medical school and my residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, I stayed and eventually led the residency program where I trained. In addition to caring for patients in the office and in the hospital, I delivered babies. Sharing my interest and experience with medical students and residents has been very fulfilling. I came to Kaiser Permanente because of our focus on and attention to the delivery of quality primary care.
About my practice
My favorite thing about family medicine is the variety of patients and medical conditions I have the opportunity to see. From newborns to geriatric patients, I enjoy getting to know patients in order to provide the best medical care. My goal is to work with each patient to maximize their health. I value engaging not just with individuals but with all members of the family. There are many different lifestyles and all types of families. I have a special interest in caring for those who have been historically underserved by the traditional health care system for a variety of socioeconomic reasons including race, gender and sexual orientation. All of us deserve quality health care! One of my newer passions is helping patients with chronic pain come up with a treatment plan that avoids or minimizes the use of opioids.
How I thrive
I believe that as physicians we should practice what we preach. I try to eat a healthy diet and work out more days than not. My refrigerator has a magnet that states, "Never trust a doctor whose plants are dying." When I am not out exploring my new city and environment, I am at home working in my yard. I am learning how to xeriscape and I continue to welcome any plant recommendations.
