About me

I was born and raised in South Africa and immigrated to the United States during my teenage years. I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder as an undergraduate and majored in mechanical engineering. My medical school training was at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, where I was fortunate enough to receive a multitude of honors and awards in surgery and clinical medicine, including induction into the AOA Medical Honor Society. My orthopedic surgery residency training was completed at the University of Colorado, where I was honored with a national Orthopedic Teaching Resident of the Year Award and served as the administrative chief resident. I completed my additional subspecialty fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama, widely regarded as one of the top sports medicine training programs in the United States. I was able to continue my orthopedic practice in Birmingham for a few years after fellowship completion. My experiences in Birmingham included specialized sports medicine surgery for athletes from high school through the collegiate and professional ranks. I have provided the highest level of sports medicine care to athletes at the pinnacle of their respective sports, from professional ballet dancers and Olympic skiers to Major League Baseball pitchers and NFL athletes. After years away from Colorado, the draw of the mountains and our amazing outdoor activity opportunities brought me and my family back to the Front Range. I am fortunate to have my dream job here at Kaiser Permanente and couldn’t imagine a better place to practice orthopedic sports medicine, raise a family, or pursue life’s adventures. I was honored to be recognized as a 5280 Magazine Top Doctor in 2018.

About my practice

As an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon, my practice focuses primarily on arthroscopic and minimally invasive treatment of shoulder, knee and hip injuries. Although many of my patients are high-level athletes, I believe all patients deserve an exceptional level of care. My goal is to provide the highest level of care to my patients in order to get them back to doing the things they love in life, whether that is a competitive sport, work or family fun. I spend a lot of time trying to understand each individual patient and their respective problems and needs to help guide them and tailor their medical care for the best possible outcome. I feel very fortunate to be a part of the recovery process for my patients and I love watching them succeed! I see teenage and adult patients.

How I thrive

I believe that a balance between a healthy body, mind and soul is essential to happiness. I am passionate about my profession, but am also passionate about family, sports, outdoor activities and adventures. When I am not at work, I enjoy traveling and adventuring with my family. Whether it’s an international trip to broaden our children’s perspectives or piloting an Idaho backcountry adventure in our bush plane, I’m up for it!

Pueblo DSNP members must choose a Primary Care Physician who is located within a KP Medical Office Building. Please refer to the Medicare print directory for Southern Colorado for a full list of these providers.

To find:

  • Kaiser Permanente medical office providers’ hours, search our facility directory
  • Affiliated providers’ office hours or languages spoken by front office staff, call their office directly
  • Providers in your plan or accepting new patients, call 303-338-4545 or 1-800-218-1059 (TTY 711), Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Information in this online directory is updated periodically and applies to commercial plans underwritten by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado. The availability of physicians, hospitals, providers, and services may change. To verify whether a provider accepts Kaiser Permanente plans, contact the provider directly. Current provider information is available at kp.org/locations. This information is updated within 72 business hours of receipt from providers. Kaiser Permanente Colorado attempts to ensure the online directory contains up-to-date information. The printed directory is current as of the date of publication.

To report any inaccuracies in the directory or to file a complaint regarding your experience with a provider, contact Member Services at 1-800-632-9700 (TTY 711), Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., or visit kp.org/memberservices.

Medicare Members: To request a hard copy of Kaiser Permanente’s provider directory, please call our Member Services department at 1-800-476-2167, seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Kaiser Permanente will mail a hard copy of the provider directory to you within three (3) business days of your request. Kaiser Permanente may ask whether your request for a hard copy is a one-time request or if you are requesting to receive the provider directory in hard copy permanently.

If you request it, your request for hard copies of the provider directory remains until you leave Kaiser Permanente or request that hard copies be discontinued.

Kaiser Permanente considers the following factors as it builds and maintains provider networks:

  • Size and demographics of the population to be served
  • The inventory of provider and facility types required to serve the population
  • Practitioner-to-member ratios and geographic access standards
  • Application of credentialing criteria encompassing but not limited to educational training, licensing, professional experience, board certification, and professional references

You may select a primary care provider (PCP) from family medicine, pediatrics, or internal medicine. When possible, we encourage you to choose a PCP whose office is in a Kaiser Permanente Medical Office Building. You may have a higher copayment and/or coinsurance with certain PCP providers. Please refer to your “Schedule of Benefits (Who Pays What)” for additional details. Use the Provider Affiliation dropdown to sort to Kaiser Permanente providers.

An authorization or referral may be required to access some providers in this directory. If you have questions, contact Member Services.
