About me
I'm a native of Illinois who has had the opportunity through education, training, and work to live across the US and abroad. My wonderful wife and I are lucky to now call Southern California our home. I provide otolaryngology/ear, nose, and throat (ENT) care but take great pride in being a cancer doctor above all. My goal is to be a compassionate guide for you through a comprehensive surgical treatment plan that emphasizes your personal values and quality of life.
Biography
After earning a BA in history at Washington University in St. Louis, my career turned toward medicine through global health advocacy and community service. After several years of health care policy and translational research work, I returned to St. Louis and completed my MD at Washington University School of Medicine. I also received a master’s in investigating head and neck tumor biology. I trained for 5 years at Stanford University for my otolaryngology/head and neck surgery residency. I then pursued advanced head and neck surgical oncology and reconstruction techniques through a prestigious fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. I then served on the faculty at Temple University and Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia for several years before returning to California. I remain active in many of our leading national organizations dedicated to the management of head and neck cancers.
About my practice
I have devoted my career to the multidisciplinary treatment of head and neck cancer. I provide the full range of head and neck surgical oncology expertise, including robotic, microvascular free tissue transfer, sentinel node, and skull-base techniques. My focus is caring for members with mucosal malignancies (mouth, throat, sinus/nasal, and voice box cancers), endocrine disease (thyroid and parathyroid disorders), salivary gland tumors, and skin cancers of the head and neck including melanoma.
How I thrive
I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, staying active, and taking advantage of everything life in California has to offer.
