About me
Welcome to my Web page! I hope you find this information useful. My name is Dr. Patrick Van Winkle. I’m a pediatric hospitalist at Kaiser Permanente's Anaheim Medical Center in Orange County.
Biography
I’ve lived in Orange County my entire life—except for one year that I lived in England and my three years of medical training in Los Angeles. I’ve been married for almost 20 years and have four beautiful children. My wife and I are involved in medical missions and have had the opportunity to travel to numerous countries. We’re also involved in work with orphans—both locally and abroad. We love this work and consider it a blessing to be able to work with these children. With our own children, we enjoy being involved in our local church, camping, exercising, and spending time with our extended family. My path to becoming a doctor had two main influences. First, I had cancer when I was a child, so I feel connected to children who have chronic diseases. Second, my mother was a nurse for 40 years, and I grew up with her dedication and care as an example.
About my practice
I specialize in the care of children who are hospitalized, and I also evaluate children in the Emergency Department. I spend time working in the children's cancer clinic, too. My usual workplace is the Anaheim Medical Center. As I mentioned above, I work in the hospital with children who have a variety of acute and chronic illnesses. I love this work and am continually amazed at the strength and love of the children's families. I work with an amazing group of physicians, nurses, and support staff in our pediatric unit. The philosophy in our unit is that we treat all our members as if they were our own children, and we strive to provide nothing but our best for them.
How I thrive
I believe that balance is a key to healthy living. A balanced diet, daily exercise, time with my family, afternoon naps (when I am not working, of course), and my faith are what keep me going.
