About me
I'm Dr. Sardesai. I'm a complex orthopedic trauma surgeon. I want to share a bit about my background, training, and experience.
Biography
I am a Southern California native. I obtained my undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering from USC. As a graduate student, I was a finalist in the Military Engineering Innovation Challenge, and I was also a recipient of the Feasibility Award from the Marshall School of Business in Los Angeles. I practiced as an engineer for 2 years before deciding to go back to school. I attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine, where I obtained my medical degree. I then completed my orthopedic surgery residency at University of Maryland/R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. As a resident, I was named junior resident of the year and awarded the Golden Hands Award by the Department of Orthopedics. After completion of residency, I went on to pursue a fellowship in orthopedic traumatology at the Indiana University School of Medicine Methodist Hospital. As a fellow, I honed my skills and interests in the treatment of complex peri-articular fractures; complex fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum; management of mangled extremities; treatment of fracture non-unions, mal-unions, and deformities; and the treatment of the multiply-injured patient. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, I was the medical director of orthopedic trauma at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, California, where I brought the hospital into the top hospital for orthopedics in the county in US News & World Report. It's been an honor to bring high-quality complex orthopedic trauma care for to Kaiser Permanente, where we continue to advance the quality of care delivered and improve the outcomes for members.
About my practice
I usually meet members at a difficult point in their lives, after a devastating injury. Navigating the complexities of injury treatment in addition to the emotional toll injuries take on members and their families requires treatment of not only the body but the soul. My approach to treatment involves not only addressing the injury or multiple injuries sustained but also helping members navigate the mental and emotional aspects of trauma. Helping members regain their confidence and independence in addition to helping them heal their injuries. The best part of my practice is helping members return to a level of function and mobility that allows them to enjoy their lives.
