About me
Welcome, and thank you for visiting my Web page! I am a family medicine–trained physician and a specialist in palliative care. It is a privilege to support you in your health journey. I look forward to learning more about you during our visits. In the meantime, you can learn a little about me on this page.
Biography
I was born and raised in Southern California. I grew up in a town called Lakewood. I eventually went to UC Irvine for my bachelor's degree in biological sciences. I loved UC Irvine so much that I went there for medical school too! After medical school, I did some residency training in general surgery at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. Working at University Medical Center, I encountered many seriously ill patients. It was in supporting these patients and their loved ones that I developed an interest in palliative care. With my newfound interest, I made a very difficult decision to switch training programs after completing about half of my general surgery training. The decision was made a bit easier because I was also following my wife back to California. I completed my family medicine residency training at Kaiser Permanente in Fontana. My experiences there reinforced my interest in palliative care and led me to pursue and complete my fellowship training in palliative care at Loma Linda University.
About my practice
My focus and specialty are in supporting members with serious illness as they navigate the management of their illness. While other specialties have the important job of focusing on certain parts and systems of the body, I have the privilege of focusing on you as a whole and what's important to you. It's my duty to advocate for you. Care may include help with physical symptoms (pain, nausea), emotional symptoms (anxiety, depression), spiritual distress, family stress, and advance care planning.
How I thrive
I enjoy walking with my wife and our dog. We also play video games together. I occasionally work on developing video games as well. While I don't do it as often as I used to, you might also catch me performing yo-yo tricks or hip-hop dancing. Finally, my faith very important to me. Reading the Bible and praying recharge me and give me strength to face the challenges of the day.
