Where I practice
Welcome to my Web page. I’m happy to have this opportunity to introduce myself and to tell you about my practice. It’s very important that you have a good rapport with your physicians. Selecting the right surgeon is very important and can be a challenge, especially during times of stress and illness. I hope that this Web page will give you a good introduction to who I am, how I practice, and how I might partner with you to help take great care of your health.
I’m a native Southern Californian. I went back East to Vassar College for my bachelor’s degree in biology, and to George Washington University for my medical degree. I did my surgical residency at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. My family and I loved our time in all these places, but missed the warm and dry weather of Southern California, so we selected Orange County as our final destination. I wanted to be a Kaiser Permanente physician because of its mission to provide compassionate and thorough care with the whole person taken into consideration. I continue to be a student of medical knowledge, and I’m also a teacher—educating members, staff, and colleagues. I’m a general surgeon with expertise in open and laparoscopic surgery.
About my practice
My practice consists of treating benign and malignant diseases of the GI tract, skin, and breast, as well as treating hernias. As technology has advanced, surgeons have embraced non-invasive and less-invasive operative techniques, such as laparoscopic surgery, to help reduce pain and complications and to quicken recovery. Kaiser Permanente firmly supports this philosophy, and strives to be on the cutting edge of new technologies. Being a physician and a surgeon is not a 9–5 job—it’s a calling that taps into a physician’s entire heart and soul. My greatest reward is to help people through their times of need and stress. I feel very fortunate to be able to share in people’s lives.
How I thrive
When not at work, I value time with family and friends. I try to keep up with my two sons on their snowboards or playing volleyball. I love to exercise, or go to the beach, desert, and mountains. I also like to read. Just like everyone else, I constantly strive to find balance with work, family, and time for myself.
