Hello. Thank you very much for taking the time to review this information about my practice and me. I hope it helps you learn more about me and help you decide if I’m an appropriate psychiatrist for you or your loved one.
I am very happy to be back in the South Bay area of Los Angeles after spending several years working throughout the U.S. and elsewhere in the world, including medical training in the San Francisco Bay Area and Portland, Oregon.
I am a general adult psychiatrist who enjoys working with adults who have a variety of psychiatric problems, including depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other illnesses. Before coming to Kaiser Permanente, I practiced in a variety of settings—including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, VA facilities, and other outpatient clinics. Although the focus of my practice is medication treatment of psychiatric disorders and symptoms, I try to use a bio-psycho-social approach with each of my patients. This means that I consider whether a medical illness or other biological issue could be affecting psychiatric symptoms. I consider the psychological traits of each individual and how these might influence his or her behaviors and symptoms, and I consider the patient’s current social situation as well. I believe this approach helps me to effectively evaluate and treat my patients, and, more importantly, to understand and value them as human beings.
I feel very lucky to be a psychiatrist, since I truly love my job and enjoy keeping up with the most current research and evidence in my field. However, I do believe that a balanced life is important, and, in my free time, I like to walk my dog, spend time with family, cook healthy and tasty food, swim, bike, hike, and camp.
