About me
I am the regional lead for Adolescent Medicine, with clinical practice at the Teen Health Center in the Pediatrics Department at Panorama City Medical Center. Board-certified in both pediatrics and adolescent medicine, I am passionate about delivering comprehensive, compassionate, care that is based on evidence and current research for adolescents and their families.
Biography
Inspired by growing up as the eldest in a large family, I knew at age 4 I wanted to become a pediatrician — thanks to the extraordinary physician who cared for my 3 younger brothers and me. Years later, I was delighted to learn he had served as president of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 1980, shaping pediatric care nationally during that formative time.
I earned my BS in nutritional biochemistry from the University of Connecticut and my medical degree from Touro University California. I completed my pediatric residency and served as chief resident at UC San Francisco–Fresno program at Children's Hospital Central California, followed by a 3-year adolescent medicine fellowship at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. I am past president of the Southern California chapter of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine, speak regularly at local, national, and international conferences, and teach as assistant clinical professor at Western University of Health Sciences and Guest Faculty/Adolescent Medicine clerkship coordinator for the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine.
About my practice
Preventive care is at the heart of my practice — identifying maladaptive behaviors and detrimental health practices early, then providing education and support to redirect members toward habits that promote long-term health and well-being. I am deeply committed to empowering young people to take ownership of their health as they transition into adulthood and helping them build a foundation for lifelong wellness.
Our Adolescent Medicine care teams provide multidisciplinary, consultative care for patients aged 12 to 25, addressing the complex physical, behavioral, and emotional needs of this population through trauma-informed care with a biopsychosocial lens. Our specialized care includes eating disorders, menstrual and reproductive health, comprehensive LGBTQIA+ health services, obesity medicine, substance use disorders, sports medicine, care transitions for medically complex patients, and behavioral and mental health.
How I thrive
I am an avid marathon runner, pursuing endurance goals and enjoy hiking (I recently summited Mt. Kilimanjaro!), biking, swimming, gardening, yoga, farmers markets, live music, camping, and catching Southern California sunsets with my family. I have a deep appreciation for the energy of live performances and can often be found dancing whenever the opportunity arises. I volunteer with programs serving underserved youth in Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley and cherish international travel adventures that foster curiosity and resilience in both myself and my children.
