About me

Hello, and welcome to my Web page. In a big medical center with many physicians, it can be a nice thing to have a sense of who you'll be seeing. I'm glad to have the opportunity to share a bit of information about myself. It's very important that you feel comfortable with your Mohs surgeon, and I hope this page will help you start to get to know me.

Biography

Born in Chicago and raised on the East Coast, I graduated from Cornell University and then attended Duke University School of Medicine. I married a fellow Duke Med classmate. After finishing my dermatology residency, I practiced in the Midwest before my husband and I relocated to California to be closer to our families living in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. We've got our own family now, with two young kids. After becoming a board-certified dermatologist, I elected to complete a fellowship at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla in Mohs surgery (microscopically controlled surgery that provides the highest cure rates for common types of skin cancer) and procedural dermatology (surgical and laser cosmetic procedures) so I can provide optimal surgical care for my patients with skin cancer. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2007 and developed a Mohs surgery unit at the Woodland Hills Medical Center.

About my practice

Having skin cancer can be difficult for anyone, so my goal is to help my patients with skin cancer by not only clearing the tumor but also offering the best cosmetic results possible. It's truly a team effort as my colleagues and I teach our patients how to get beautiful healing of the surgical site and how to protect themselves against further sun damage.

How I thrive

I believe in the importance of balance for well-being—exercise, healthy eating and sleep, good relationships, and meaningful work are all part of this balance. As a dermatologist and Mohs surgeon, I also emphasize the importance of sun-smart behavior—every day. And my patients know I walk the talk. Literally. So when I'm out walking the dog or at the park with my two kids, it's with sunscreen, sunglasses ,and a floppy wide-brimmed hat.
