About me

Hi, and welcome to my Web page! My name is Dr. Nguyen (pronounced "Win"). Thank you for taking some time to learn more about my practice.

Biography

I was introduced to podiatry early in life because my father had long-lasting musculature problems in his foot from a severe childhood injury. In learning about his condition, I became interested in medicine and biomechanics. I was impressed by some of the specialists who treated him—he actually received treatment here at the Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Offices. That experience inspired me to follow in the footsteps of my mentor, as I proceeded through the California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University. I then completed my residency at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, and started working at Kaiser Permanente.

About my practice

I treat conditions below the ankle—skin and nail diseases and infections, complications in the foot from diabetes, circulatory, neurological, or metabolic diseases, biomechanical problems, and pediatric foot problems. I also perform corrective foot surgeries for bone and structural deformities. In my clinic, I take the time to explain the nature of the problem, the conservative and surgical treatment options, and the preventive measures. I believe that, in order to adhere to a treatment program more consistently, one should understand the disease process, its mechanism or pathology, the effects on the lower extremity's biomechanics, and the potential secondary effects on the rest of the body.

How I thrive

I’m definitely a foot nerd, but my other passions are music and staying fit. Prior to podiatric medical school, I’d considered becoming a concert pianist. I still play in concerts with the Vietnamese American Philharmonic Orchestra—a nonprofit classical music and cultural group. I believe that all of my years practicing piano have contributed to the precision and fine motor skills that are needed for the intricate surgeries I perform as a podiatrist. I'm also an avid marathon runner and have joined cross fit to help improve my race performance. I believe it’s important to find and maintain a balance between mental and physical health. Most of all, it’s very rewarding to be able to integrate my interests and experience into my daily podiatric practice and share them with my members.
