About my practice
My Cancer Subspecialty
My primary focus is gynecologic oncology, which involves the care and treatment of cancers that affect the female reproductive system, such as ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancers.
My practice includes a full range of care, from complex surgeries to chemotherapy, and often involves minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures. While cancer treatment is a core part of what I do, I also help manage non-cancerous but challenging gynecologic conditions that require advanced surgical expertise. In addition, I am involved in consultations for women with genetic disorders that put them at risk for gynecologic cancers.
At the heart of my philosophy is the belief that one physician should help guide and coordinate all aspects of care — surgical, medical, and emotional — so that members receive a seamless and supportive experience.
National Expertise on Multidisciplinary Teams
One of the aspects of my work that I’m proudest of is collaborating with a team of experts. I serve as the regional physician in charge for gynecologic oncology for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group, and I help lead our regional Gynecologic Tumor Board, where specialists from various fields come together to design treatment plans for members.
I also chair and participate in national initiatives focused on improving the quality of care for gynecologic cancers. As the lead for quality for the Kaiser Permanente National Gynecologic Oncology Program, I helped initially establish this national committee and have worked with colleagues across the country to ensure members benefit from the latest treatments and approaches based on evidence and current research.
Research and Clinical Trials
Advancing cancer care is a personal and professional priority for me. I am actively involved in clinical research as a sub-investigator with the National Cancer Institute’s Community Oncology Program, and I collaborate with national research groups such as:
- SWOG
- NSABP (National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project)
- NRG Oncology
- Alliance
Through this work, I help bring innovative therapies and clinical trials directly to our community. I also serve as the director for gynecologic oncology clinical trials in the Southern California Clinical Trials Access Program, helping make state-of-the-art treatment options more accessible to members. I have also received multiple research grants and publications over my career.
How I thrive
Outside of work, I play basketball, read sci-fi and historical novels, and listen to Bruce Springsteen.
