About me
Welcome to my Web page. I consider myself very fortunate to be a pediatrician. I love interacting with children and equally enjoy helping their parents. It is a major decision to entrust the care of your child to someone else. I take my responsibility very seriously. My job is to help you, educate you, and sometimes point things out to you that you did not otherwise know or understand. Together we can maximize your and their potential to thrive.
Biography
I grew up in Chicago and still visit often. My mother was a nurse and I watched her assist my neighbors physically, mentally and emotionally with their medical dilemmas. The effect she had on the lives of others was very motivating. I knew growing up that I wanted to be involved in the medical profession. I started as a physical therapist and I practiced prior to and during medical school. I have practiced medicine in the military, in an academic setting, in private practice and now in the integrated health care delivery system of Kaiser Permanente. I am very blessed with a wonderful wife and healthy children. My family is very involved in many school and church activities. I participate in many community activities including volunteering at the Orange County Rescue Mission and Orange County Food Bank and am a medical director for the Orange County Special Olympics. The Orange County Medical Association has selected me as a physician of excellence.
About my practice
I believe that overall, the pediatric care delivered in our group is excellent. The way to make the system more personal is to get to know your primary care doctor and let them get to know you. At the Irvine Medical Offices there are several full time general pediatricians. We work as a team and collaborate on treating many members. My overall philosophy is that nature will take care of many maladies on its own. I will try to allow the body to heal itself by natural means, if at all possible. My goal is to avoid prescribing medicine unless clearly indicated. I am a strong supporter of vaccinations and believe it is the right thing to do. Alternative medicine can play an important role in the overall health care plan. I try to stay current with the research regarding herbal medicine and supplements. Our group strives to always practice medicine based on scientific evidence, meaning there is good research to support the decisions made.
How I thrive
I believe to truly thrive you must pay attention to all aspects of your life: physical, emotional and spiritual. You must balance and prioritize your professional and personal lives. Giving of yourself to family, friends, your community and the world as a whole is rewarding and fulfilling. My family and friends are my foundation. There is a continuous flow of feedback and support to keep me grounded. My profession stimulates me intellectually. I can never stop reading. There is always something more to learn. I am a very spiritual person. I am moved to use and share the many gifts I have been given with my community and the world. I take care of my body by watching my nutrition and getting regular exercise. I am an avid mountain biker and enjoy many outdoor activities with my family including hiking, biking, camping and skiing.
