About me
Hello, I am Dr. Rhim, a podiatrist with Kaiser Permanente. Welcome to my Web page! Thank you for letting me introduce myself so that you can get to know me better.
Biography
I was born in Seoul, South Korea and came with my family to the U.S. at an early age. I’ve lived in Southern California for most of my life. I attended high school in Chino and obtained my undergraduate degree from UC Santa Barbara. I became interested in the field of podiatric medicine and surgery as soon as I started a work-study job at a podiatrist's office during my undergraduate years. I earned my medical degree from the California School of Podiatric Medicine, Samuel Merritt University, and I completed a three-year podiatric medicine and surgery residency with the added credential in reconstructive rearfoot/ankle residency program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. My training also included diabetic limb salvage, flat foot reconstruction, and sports injuries. I am board certified in foot surgery and rearfoot/ankle surgery.
About my practice
My specialty is podiatric medicine and surgery of the foot and ankle. This includes ingrown toenails, bunions, hammer toes, arthritis, tendonitis, sports injuries, diabetic wounds, and complex biomechanical problems. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, I gained patient care experiences through having my own practice and as a faculty member at the College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, Western University of Health Sciences. When working at Western University, I realized I found great satisfaction in having one-on-one interaction with patients. My goal in patient care is to make your experience as pleasant as possible. I strive to provide high-quality care through a combination of evidence-based medicine, empathy, and teamwork. Also, I strive to maintain easy accessibility to patients and show transparency in the care I provide to you.
How I thrive
I believe maintaining a healthy body and mind requires an equal balance of work and physical activity. I enjoy working out and staying connected with friends and family. I was a competitive swimmer when I was younger and still swim to keep an active life style. I enjoy travelling to various countries and trying out new cuisines. I live daily by practicing Kaiser Permanente's philosophy of health in body, mind and spirit.
