About me
I grew up in Indiana and completed medical school and family practice residency in Indianapolis. I spent a month of residency working in a small town in southeast Alaska and fell in love with both the beauty of the Northwest and my future husband. After 10 years as a family medicine physician in Alaska, then in Portland, and doing a lot of thinking about my purpose and passion within medicine, I made the decision to pursue a fellowship in hospice and palliative care. My husband and son were willing to relocate to Cincinnati, Ohio, so I could complete the fellowship. Following the fellowship, we moved back to our home in Portland and are enjoying the culture and beauty of the city we call home again. As a member of the Kaiser Permanente team I work to provide supportive, wholistic care and help patients and families navigate the complexities of illness.
About my practice
I see patients with a wide variety of medical conditions and illnesses. I enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team to help these patients and their families navigate the multitude of symptoms, emotions, and complexities that arise when dealing with a serious illness. I believe that each individual's experience with health and illness is unique, and my role as a palliative care physician should be to help each patient navigate the health care system and live life to his or her fullest. I enjoy listening to stories of others and using my education and experience to ease suffering and promote well-being.
How I thrive
I thrive by surrounding myself with family and friends whom I love and also by escaping into the wilderness for solo backpacking trips with my dog. I enjoy traveling, learning about new places and cultures, and making new connections. I have spent several months volunteering in Central America and always feel recharged by expanding my horizons and doing what I can to help others. When home in the Pacific Northwest, I enjoy hiking, running, exploring all the natural beauty around us, and spending time in the backyard with my son and husband, just playing.

Medicare Members: To request a hard copy of Kaiser Permanente’s provider directory, please call our Member Services department at 1-877-221-8221, seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Kaiser Permanente will mail a hard copy of the provider directory to you within three (3) business days of your request. Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other KFHP (Kaiser Foundation Health Plan) products and lines of business. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans’ contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of members’ KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

Referrals to affiliated community physicians/providers in Oregon and Washington
Affiliated community physicians/providers are not part of the NWPMG (Northwest Permanente Medical Group). They are physicians/providers credentialed by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest and/or who have a contract with the NWPMG.
If your NWPMG physician decides that you require covered services not available internally from an NWPMG physician, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community physician/provider. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community physician/provider.
Referrals to affiliated community dentists in Oregon and Washington
Affiliated community dentists are not part of PDA (Permanente Dental Associates). They are dentists credentialed by PDA for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest, and they have a contract with PDA.
If your PDA dentist decides that you require covered services not available internally from a PDA dentist, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community dentist. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community dentist.
