Where I practice
I grew up in Southern California and despite the wonderful sunshine I fell in love with the Pacific Northwest in 2001 when I moved here for medical training and have called it home ever since. I have always wanted to be a physician from the time I was a little child and what better place to practice than in this beautiful city with such genuine and warm people whom I call my patients and my colleagues.
About my practice
I originally started out at Kaiser Permanente as a primary care physician at the Tualatin Medical Office in 2005. Having a complex, older panel of patients allowed me to utilize both my primary care training as well as my additional fellowship training in geriatric medicine. Over my first few years in practice, I found that I was very interested in geriatric syndromes and transitions of care and care settings which led me to join the Geriatrics and Long-term Care Department (GLTC) in 2009. In this department, I spend the majority of my time providing house calls for some of our frailest members as well as providing sub acute care in the skilled nursing home setting. Seeing patients that have been unable to get into our traditional clinic settings has also sparked an interest in me to pursue a leadership role that would enable me to help shape geriatric care delivery at Kaiser Permanente. I became Chief of the GLTC department in 2010 and in this role help serve on the Medicare Oversight Committee and provide influence regarding medical services that are needed by the geriatric population. My professional philosophy is that I am committed to treating every patient as I would want my family to be cared for and strongly believe in the evidence based medicine fostered by Kaiser Permanente.
How I thrive
I enjoy spending my free time with my wonderful husband and my amazing young son and daughter. Although I take great pride in being a physician, I also love my other role which is being a mom. My children definitely are what make me thrive and what replenish my spirit and soul. I also enjoy reading, horseback riding, baking and spending time with good friends.
