Where I practice
I'm a native Oregonian and have lived here most of my life. My husband and I met at Oregon Health & Science University, and now we are both Northwest Permanente hospitalists—working exclusively with hospitalized members. In my free time, I love laughing with our kids, hiking and camping around the Northwest, running, cooking, and traveling. We are also avid college football fans.
About my practice
I feel very lucky to practice medicine; my job is meeting people and helping them to feel better. Kaiser Permanente's integrated philosophy is very important to me because it offers the opportunity to build relationships with everyone caring for our members. I enjoy hospital medicine because it allows me as much time with each patient and family as I need to answer questions, explain our care, and make plans to help them both in the hospital and transitioning out of the hospital. I view myself as an extension of the primary care team, and I want people to feel as comfortable as possible about the transition and communication between me and other providers. Northwest Permanente has also allowed me to explore leadership opportunities, and I really value the chance to learn other providers' interests and potential.
How I thrive
I thrive by spending time with my kids and husband and exploring the outdoors with them. We enjoy traveling as a family—experiencing new cultures, foods, and languages. Running allows me to relax and clear my mind, which re-energizes me. I exercise my creative side by cooking and baking bread for friends and family (and we get to eat the results!). Finally, I love reading and learning about everything from physics and space, to politics and history.
