About me
I am a native Oregonian, born and raised in Portland. I became interested in medicine as a young child and eventually attended Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine. After additional internal medicine training at the University of Virginia, I returned to my roots in the Northwest. I am grateful to be near family and live in beautiful Portland. I am fortunate to be only an hour from the beach, mountains and desert. During residency, I was interested in numerous medical specialties and decided to become a hospital based physician. In 2004, I joined the Kaiser Hospitality group, one of the oldest and largest in the country.
About my practice
I practice in the Hospital Medicine Department. My colleagues and I care for patient's medical needs if they are admitted to the hospital. We are fortunate to work as a team with wonderful nurses and ancillary services. The Hospital Medicine Department's mission is to provide excellent, compassionate, and efficient care for hospitalized patients. As hospitalists, we not only care for individual patients but strive to improve care throughout the hospital. In order to provide our members with the best care that we can, we implement best practices and coordinate quality improvement projects throughout the hospital. I acknowledge that being hospitalized can make our members vulnerable. My personal philosophies related to medical practice include always doing what is right for the patient and doing what I would want done for my own loved one. I value the patient physician relationship and feel patients deserve to be involved in decisions regarding their health and be educated about their health.
How I thrive
Outside of the hospital, I enjoy time with family, hiking, gardening, crafts, cooking and travel. I try to remain active and challenged in every aspect of life. I have a busy family, but we set aside time each evening (without telephone, TV, radio) for dinner together to touch discuss our day. I believe in giving back to the community. I have been an avid volunteer since childhood, but sometimes giving is as simple as helping someone at the grocery store. While I have worked at several free medical clinics, I also enjoy volunteering outside of the medicine. I have served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate to foster children for over three years.

Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans’ contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of members’ KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

Referrals to affiliated community physicians/providers in Oregon and Washington
Affiliated community physicians/providers are not part of the NWPMG (Northwest Permanente Medical Group). They are physicians/providers credentialed by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest and/or who have a contract with the NWPMG.
If your NWPMG physician decides that you require covered services not available internally from an NWPMG physician, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community physician/provider. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community physician/provider.
Referrals to affiliated community dentists in Oregon and Washington
Affiliated community dentists are not part of PDA (Permanente Dental Associates). They are dentists credentialed by PDA for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest, and they have a contract with PDA.
If your PDA dentist decides that you require covered services not available internally from a PDA dentist, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community dentist. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community dentist.
