My specialty: Emergency Medicine
All Kaiser Permanente Physicians and Surgeons
My gender: Male
Accepting new patients.
I was born in small-town Georgia. I received my undergraduate degree from Berry College in Rome, Georgia, and studied medicine at Mercer University in nearby Macon. I completed my emergency medicine residency training at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke, Virginia. So how did a Southern boy end up on the West Coast? I love the outdoors, good beer, and friendly people — and Portland checks all of those boxes. I'm blessed every day that I get to provide care to the people of this community.
Emergency medicine gives me the opportunity to impact someone's life on one of their worst days. In the Emergency Medicine Department, we take care of a spectrum of diseases and age groups, and I love the diversity that this specialty offers. An unfortunate aspect of this specialty is that I am surrounded by serious illness — and often death. It is my mission to lessen the suffering of those in the final stages of their lives. Through Kaiser Permanente's extensive outpatient and specialty networks, I am able to provide truly amazing care to the members of this diverse community.
In order to thrive, you must love life. In order to love life, you must surround yourself with those who love you as much as you love them. I am blessed to have an amazing group of friends and family, and I have two wonderful pups that have been with me since medical school. One of the reasons I got into emergency medicine is because it affords me the opportunity to spend time with those who matter to me. Whether locally or abroad, I do best when I am close to those I love.
