I grew up in San Jose, California, and lived in paradise during my undergraduate years at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where I was lucky enough to meet my beautiful wife. During college, I worked as an emergency medical technician on the UCSB campus ambulance. This is where I found my passion for helping people and realized that I gravitated toward emergency medical situations. My medical student rotation in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, solidified my career choice to be an emergency medicine physician.
My approach to patient care encompasses many of the philosophies of osteopathic medicine. I believe in helping the body into a position that will facilitate its own healing. This often requires that I treat the whole patient by addressing the mind, body, and spirit. I feel fortunate to join the Kaiser Permanente team, where these philosophies are encouraged, and I am empowered to be the best emergency medicine physician I can be.
My philosophy for treating patients is one that I attempt to apply in my own life. Balancing the mind, body, and spirit are essential for whole body health. I do my best to achieve this by making sure to spend time with my family (often outside in the beautiful Pacific Northwest!). We love taking our dog on hikes, riding bikes, kayaking, practicing yoga, playing beach volleyball and ping pong, and learning new activities. I am committed to playing an active role in our community. My wife and I also love to travel, entertain, cook and eat good food, and spend time with friends.
