Where I practice
I was born in New York and had nearly a life-long interest in being a physician. I attended medical school in upstate New York, where I experienced the emotional and psychological needs of patients facing challenging illnesses and later became interested in psychiatry. I completed my residency at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, and spent over 20 years practicing psychiatry in the Philadelphia area and Northern Delaware. I have earned teaching and service awards for educating the public, students, and residents on many topics related to mental health.
About my practice
I believe in helping members formulate and achieve their goals for health and recovery by educating them in the broad range of available treatments to meet their individual needs. Psychiatry and medicine are a collaboration between the patient and the psychiatrist. I work with members struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, HIV, sexuality and gender issues, substance use, medical illnesses, and complicating emotional disorders. I enjoy working here at Kaiser Permanente for the opportunity to collaborate with kind, skilled, caring professionals across a system designed to do everything possible to improve patients' well-being.
