Where I practice
I am a native Oregonian, originally from Eugene, and have lived in the Portland area for many years. I have traveled to many states and countries but always considered the Pacific Northwest my favorite place to live. I decided to apply to medical school after graduating from college and have never looked back. It is an honor to be a physician. I chose to go into hospital medicine because not only does it allow me to work with patients and their families, but it also allows me to work with multiple staff members in the hospital so that we can all take care of patients collaboratively.
About my practice
My role as a hospitalist is to act as your primary care provider in the hospital. I hope that I can help you and your family understand your medical issues and help to alleviate some of the stress that can come from being hospitalized. Working as a hospitalist allows me to build relations with sub-specialists and hospital staff so that we can provide you the best care possible.
How I thrive
Even when life is good and fun, it can be busy and demanding. That's why I think it is important to take time for yourself, both mentally and physically, to allow your mind and body to refocus. I like to do barre and circuit classes, as well as run and hike, to stay fit and healthy. Spending time with my husband, two daughters, and our dog is also very important to me — I savor time with them when I am not working, even if it is just a quiet evening at home. We also love to camp, hike, swim, alpine ski, and eat ice cream! I have also been fortunate to travel to Guatemala annually as a volunteer physician, providing primary care and surgery referrals in many villages throughout that country. I hope that one or both of my daughters will be able to join me in the future as a volunteer, because it has been such a rewarding experience for me.
