Where I practice
I was born in Paris, France, but spent most of my younger years in the Washington, DC area. I graduated from college with a business degree and worked in the financial services industry for several years. I also volunteered in the burn unit of Children's Hospital in Washington, DC and made the decision after that experience to go to medical school. I met my husband, a native Oregonian, while working in Washington D.C., and after graduating from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, we headed back to the Pacific Northwest. I completed my Internal Medicine Residency program at the Oregon Health Sciences University. I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 1997, initially in outpatient primary care and now as a hospital based physician.
About my practice
Initially when starting at Kaiser Permanente, I did primary care internal medicine at the Kaiser Permanente East Interstate Medical Office. I am now a hospitalist at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center doing inpatient care and preoperative clinic. I also still do an outpatient internal medicine clinic now and then. I feel patient care is a team approach. The most important person in the decision making process is the patient. It is my job as the physician to provide the patient with as much pertinent information as possible and help guide him/her in the decision making process.
How I thrive
I thrive by leading a well balanced life, both with a vibrant, intellectually stimulating job as a hospitalist and a vibrant, extremely busy life as a wife and mother of two children. When not in the hospital, I can usually be found at my children's' school volunteering in the classroom and acting as chauffeur for their various activities. I occasionally volunteer at the Wallace Medical Concern downtown. I also have been doing medical missions in Haiti since the earthquake there.
