Where I practice
I am honored to serve the local community as a family physician and as a member of the Kaiser Permanente team. I was drawn to family medicine because it offered me the opportunity to make lasting connections with patients. I was also drawn to the breadth of knowledge required to be a family physician, which makes this specialty both challenging and exciting. After graduating from medical school at Oregon Health & Science University, I served seven years in the United States Navy. I hope to continue to employ the spirit of service by helping the local community as a citizen and as a physician.
About my practice
Kaiser Permanente Northwest partners with Oregon Health & Science University to provide a Family Medicine Residency clinical site at KP Beaverton, and I am 1 of 3 physicians who make up the program faculty. In my practice, I provide full-scope family medicine, including pediatric, geriatric, obstetrical, and women's health care, including prenatal care. I believe preventive medicine is the cornerstone of family medicine, and as such I am an advocate for smoking cessation, immunizations, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. I am at my best as a family physician when I know my patients, including their goals, motivations, and interests. I learn through listening and sharing stories, and I feel privileged to get to work with outstanding colleagues and family medicine residents.
How I thrive
I thrive when I have a handle on the noise around me — the distractions that impact my ability to be present and in the moment. I do this by taking in and amplifying positive influences, and by identifying and limiting the impact of negative influences. I enjoy the company of family and friends, exercising, playing board games, and reading short stories. I enjoy swimming and am a regular bike commuter.
