I am a native of Cincinnati and did much of my training in Ohio and Pennsylvania. I completed pharmacy school but then decided to become a physician to have closer interaction with patients and to help guide them through complex medical decision-making. I thrive in a teamwork environment. I don't feel that any job is too small, and I work best when everyone has put forth effort toward a common goal of improving patient care.
I am a pulmonary and critical care medicine physician. My philosophy for practicing medicine is to emphasize underlying lifestyle changes that may be preventive and proactive. I think many of the available treatments are wonderful, but if we are not working with patients to change habits in the areas of smoking, poor dietary practices, or lack of exercise we may be ignoring the root causes of chronic diseases. While we in the health-care profession don't have all the answers, throughout the journey with any of our patients and their families, it is of utmost importance for us to act as patient advocates and to offer our recommendations in the most honest, compassionate, and empathetic manner possible.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my wife, who pushes me to find creative avenues/releases. I relieve stress by exercising—especially running. I enjoy trail running, hiking, mountain biking, and other outdoor sports.
