About me

I completed my family medicine residency in Michigan followed by a fellowship in sleep medicine with the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit. Although I will always have fond memories of the Great Lakes region, I'm originally from Tacoma, and it is great to be back in the Northwest. Over the last few years I have worked in a variety of clinical settings — primary care, urgent care, military medicine, and, more recently, sleep medicine. During these years I have found that the delivery of quality medical care requires a sound medical plan developed with input from the patient and the physician. This patient-physician team approach is especially important in addressing sleep disorders, for which the goals are ultimately patient-driven.

About my practice

Sleep medicine is a fascinating field and involves all aspects of an individual's health. Given the complexity of sleep medicine, uncovering the true nature of the sleep problem is as important as the treatment itself. Developing good relationships and establishing clear goals is key to how I approach an individual's care. As a sleep physician, I address and develop treatment plans for all aspects of sleep disorders, including insomnia, sleep apnea, circadian rhythm disorders, parasomnias (such as sleepwalking), sleep-related movement disorders (including restless legs syndrome), and hypersomnia (such as narcolepsy).

How I thrive

In achieving quality sleep, as with most things in medicine, a healthful diet with exercise plays an important role. In the Pacific Northwest, specifically in the Willamette Valley, we are surrounded by fantastic year-round outdoor opportunities as well as the fruits of a thriving agricultural industry. I look forward to taking advantage of what the Northwest offers, and I enjoy discussing healthy lifestyle strategies with our members.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans’ contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of members’ KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
